Apple may reveal Gemini-powered Siri in February

Apple is reportedly preparing to show off its long delayed next generation Siri, and this time the upgrade comes with help from Google. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to demonstrate a Gemini-powered Siri in the second half of February, giving users their first real look at how the assistant is finally being rebuilt after years of falling behind rivals.

Gemini-powered Siri

This version of Siri is expected to arrive as part of iOS 26.4, which is slated to enter beta testing in February before a wider release in March or early April. Apple originally previewed a more personalized Siri at WWDC 2024, promising deeper context awareness and smarter task handling, but internal issues reportedly slowed progress and forced the company to rethink its AI strategy.

The Gemini-powered Siri is said to behave much more like an AI chatbot than earlier iterations. Instead of responding to single commands, Siri should be able to understand ongoing context, reference what is currently on screen, and pull from personal data such as emails, messages, and calendar entries to complete requests. Apple previously demonstrated scenarios like asking Siri about a family member’s travel plans or lunch reservations, and the February demos are expected to finally show those capabilities working in real use.

Apple is not expected to treat the February reveal as a full scale product launch. Gurman notes that the company may opt for controlled demonstrations or private media briefings rather than a dedicated event. A broader, more formal introduction is reportedly planned for Apple’s annual developer conference this summer, where the assistant, internally codenamed Campos, will be positioned as a central part of Apple Intelligence.

Beyond iOS 26.4, Apple is already preparing a more ambitious Siri upgrade tied to iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. This later version is expected to introduce full conversational abilities, allowing sustained back and forth interactions similar to ChatGPT or Google Gemini. According to Gurman, this iteration would be significantly more capable than the personalized Siri coming earlier and competitive with newer generations of Gemini.
