WhatsApp CarPlay app is now rolling out to all iPhone users, bringing a fully native in-car experience with the latest WhatsApp for iOS update version 26.13.74. The update marks a clear shift from the app’s earlier limited CarPlay integration to something that feels properly built for Apple’s in-car interface.

Until now, using WhatsApp on CarPlay relied almost entirely on Siri voice commands. That meant no visual access to chats, no browsing call history, and no quick way to interact beyond dictation. With this update, WhatsApp CarPlay app introduces a complete interface designed for safer and faster communication while driving.
The new WhatsApp CarPlay app uses a tabbed layout that separates chats, calls, and favorites. The chats tab highlights recent conversations with unread messages, avoiding full chat histories to reduce distractions. This keeps the interface focused and easier to scan at a glance.
The calls tab brings a proper call history view to CarPlay, showing incoming, outgoing, and missed calls along with timestamps and contact icons. You can tap any entry to quickly return a call, which removes the need to rely on voice commands for basic actions.
A dedicated favorites tab pulls in your most-used contacts from WhatsApp on iPhone. This makes it faster to reach the people you interact with most, especially during short drives where speed and simplicity matter.
There are also quick action options for sending messages via dictation or starting calls directly from the interface. Combined with end-to-end encryption for messages and calls, the experience stays consistent with WhatsApp’s privacy model.

The update has been in testing for a short period, but is now widely available. Once you install the latest version of WhatsApp on your iPhone and connect it to a CarPlay-compatible vehicle, the new app appears automatically on the car’s display.
This release also aligns with broader changes in the CarPlay ecosystem. More apps are starting to adopt native interfaces instead of relying on voice-only controls, turning the dashboard into a more capable communication hub. Alongside this, WhatsApp has also been adding features like AI-powered reply suggestions and photo editing tools in recent updates, though the CarPlay upgrade is the most noticeable shift for everyday use.
