Foldable iPhone Ultra Still Expected to Launch Alongside iPhone 18 Pro

Apple’s first foldable iPhone remains on track for a September 2026 unveiling, according to a new supply chain report that pushes back against recent claims of a significant delay.

The latest report cites sources within Apple’s supply chain who say component shipments for the foldable iPhone have already begun in small batches. Suppliers reportedly continue to receive guidance pointing to a September announcement timeframe, with no indication that Apple has postponed its plans for the device.

Rumors surrounding Apple’s foldable iPhone have been mixed in recent months. Earlier reports suggested the device could launch later than the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, potentially arriving in December or even slipping into early 2027. However, more recent reports from supply chain sources and leakers have consistently pointed to a September debut.

According to the latest information, Apple is still expected to unveil the foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max during its annual fall iPhone event. Even if availability is slightly delayed, Apple has previously announced products months before they reached customers.

The foldable iPhone is widely rumored to feature a book-style design with a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch cover display. Other expected specifications include Apple’s A20 chip, the C2 modem, dual rear cameras, and a Touch ID power button in place of Face ID.

Reports have also suggested that Apple has made significant progress in addressing display crease concerns that have affected many foldable smartphones. However, some rumors claim the company is still refining the device’s hinge mechanism to meet its long-term durability standards before launch.

The device could be marketed as the iPhone Ultra, a name that has appeared in multiple reports over the past year. If accurate, it would become Apple’s most premium iPhone model to date, with pricing expected to start around $2,000 and potentially climb significantly higher depending on storage configuration.

The foldable iPhone is expected to be one of the headline products in Apple’s 2026 iPhone lineup. It would also mark Apple’s first entry into the foldable smartphone market, years after competitors such as Samsung introduced their own foldable devices.
