Delta 2.0 Brings iPhone Duo Support and Sega Genesis

Delta 2.0 is out, and it adds support for the iPhone Duo. The retro game emulator also gains Sega Genesis games, RetroAchievements and a redesigned interface built around Liquid Glass.

Delta 2.0 iPhone Duo

Delta announced the release on October 22 and called it the biggest update the app has had. It is available on the App Store and AltStore PAL, in time for the iPhone Duo launch on October 23.

Delta 2.0 fits its controller skins to every iPhone Duo pose

Riley Testut, the developer behind Delta, says the controller skins are optimized for every iPhone Duo pose, in both portrait and landscape. The interface was redesigned to adapt to the screens on iPhone, iPad and iPhone Duo.

Split View is supported too, so you can keep a game running next to another app on the iPhone Duo.

The Liquid Glass redesign touches menus, system icons and default game artwork, which now have a glass-like look. There are also new Recently Played and Favorites sections in the library.

Sega Genesis is the first new system Delta has added since launch

Delta launched on the App Store in April 2024 with support for NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. Sega Genesis is the first system added since then, and new controller skins for iPhone and iPad recreate the classic Genesis controller look. As with every system in Delta, you import your own game files.

RetroAchievements is also new, which adds community-made achievements to the games you play. Controller skins can now be animated as well.

A new DLC feature adds custom in-game experiences for classic Pokémon games, including event items and rare Pokémon. Testut says it will cover all mainline Pokémon games released for the Game Boy Advance, with the first DLC coming soon.

Delta stays free on the App Store with in-app purchases

Delta is a free download from the App Store, with in-app purchases to support its development. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Silicon Macs and Apple Vision, and it works with game controllers from Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox.

Delta’s team says the app has passed 20 million downloads in two years.
