Skechers launches AirTag compatible shoes for kids

Keeping track of energetic toddlers just became simpler. Skechers has unveiled a Find My Skechers line that integrates a discreet AirTag pocket inside each mid-sole, giving parents a built-in, child-friendly way to locate wandering little ones without dangling accessories or fragile clips.

AirTag compatible shoes

The tracker sits beneath the insole in a recessed cavity sealed by a screw-fastened lid, so it stays hidden, maintains comfort, and avoids signalling to strangers that a locator is present. Unlike third-party holders that can snag or fall off, the all-in-one design means parents only need the shoes and a single AirTag to start monitoring. The range launches in multiple colourways and sizes for kids up to eight years old, and the price premium is minimal: pairs cost between $52 and $58, only a few dollars more than comparable Skechers sneakers.

Skechers says the EVA mid-sole keeps weight low, while lace-up, slip-on, and Velcro variants cater to different age groups and dressing habits. Parents who prefer subtlety will appreciate that there is no exterior branding or icon hinting at a tracker; the shoes look like standard athletic footwear. Durability also gets attention, with the AirTag cover rated for repeated removal during battery swaps.

Setting up tracking is familiar to existing AirTag users: pair a new or spare AirTag with the Find My app > slide out the insole > place the tag inside the slot > tighten the lid, then replace the insole. Before the first outing, Skechers recommends testing Precision Finding indoors to confirm a snug fit. Safe zones can be created in Find My, generating alerts if a child moves beyond a predefined radius, while Ultra Wideband-equipped iPhones (iPhone 11 or later) display direction and distance arrows for faster retrieval.

The shoes are available today through the Skechers website and authorised retailers worldwide. The cavity matches the current AirTag’s 31.9 mm diameter, and Skechers expects future Apple trackers of the same size to fit, including the rumoured AirTag 2. Any iPhone running iOS 14.5 or later can locate the shoes, but the accuracy improves on newer devices thanks to Ultra Wideband support.

Privacy remains a core consideration. Apple’s anti-stalking features are unchanged: if an AirTag inside the shoe becomes separated from its owner’s iPhone for 8-24 hours, it will emit an audible alert, and iOS will notify unfamiliar users if an unknown AirTag travels with them for an extended period.
