Apple announced today that it is adjusting its App Store tax and pricing structure for developers operating in Israel, Indonesia, Morocco, and the Republic of the Congo. The changes take effect immediately for new apps and updates, affecting how developers in these markets pay commissions on digital transactions. The restructuring simplifies Apple’s fee approach across these four regions while maintaining different tiers based on distribution method and payment processing choice.
How the new tax structure works
The updated tax structure will be applicable today for the following 3 countries:
- Morocco: Value‑added tax (VAT) introduction of 20%
- Republic of the Congo: VAT introduction of 18%
- Tanzania: Digital sales tax (DST) rate increase from 2% to 3%
The new terms are available for developer signature immediately, with implementation beginning August 27, 2026. Apple is providing detailed resources through the Apple Developer Support page to help developers understand how these changes affect their specific business models in each market.
Starting from September 14, 2026, the following will be applicable across the four countries:
Pricing for apps and In-App Purchases will be updated for Israel, Indonesia, Morocco, and the Republic of the Congo if you haven’t selected one of these storefronts as the base storefront for your app or In‑App Purchase. These updates also consider the VAT introductions listed in the tax updates section above.
If you’ve selected Israel, Indonesia, Morocco, or the Republic of the Congo as the base storefront for your app or In-App Purchase, prices on that storefront won’t change. On other storefronts, prices will be updated to maintain equalization with your chosen base price.
Prices won’t change in any region if your In‑App Purchase is an auto‑renewable subscription.
Prices won’t change on the storefronts where you manually manage prices instead of using the automated equalized prices.
The tax and price adjustment applies to developers distributing apps in Israel, Indonesia, Morocco, and the Republic of the Congo.
