Apple releases iOS 18.6 with a fix for Photos app

Apple has released iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 for all compatible iPhone and iPad models. The update contains a fix for Photos app which could prevent movies from being shared. For European Union users, this software update also features new App Store rules,

This update provides important bug fixes and security updates, and fixes an issue in Photos that could prevent memory movies from being shared.

For the EU App Store changes, Apple had shared the following on its website with regards to user experience changes:

Beginning with iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6, iOS and iPadOS will provide an updated user experience in the EU for installing alternative marketplaces or apps from a developer’s website. Additionally, later this year, we will provide an API which will allow developers to initiate the download of alternatively distributed apps they publish from within their app.

There are also changes to business terms for apps as well as communication and promotion of offers due to the Digital Markets Act enforced by the European Commission.

The update is available now over-the-air for the following iPhone and iPad models. Simply go to Settings > General > Software Update on your device to download and install the update.
