Apple TV earns five Peabody nominations in 2026

Apple TV is once again in the spotlight for original programming, picking up five nominations at the 86th Annual Peabody Awards. The recognition spans entertainment, documentary, and children’s content, reinforcing the platform’s steady push into prestige storytelling.

Apple TV Peabody nominations 2026

The Peabody Awards are widely regarded as one of the most respected honors in media, focusing on stories that reflect social issues and cultural impact. Apple TV’s latest nominations highlight how its catalog continues to expand beyond mainstream appeal into more meaningful, critically recognized work.

This year, the Apple TV Peabody nominations include “Pluribus” in the entertainment category, “Shape Island” in children’s programming, and three documentary nods for “Come See Me in the Good Light,” “Vietnam: The War That Changed America,” and “Mr. Scorsese.” Together, these titles cover a wide range of themes, from imaginative storytelling and children’s narratives to deeply personal and historical documentaries.

“Pluribus” stands out as a genre-bending series that follows a deeply unhappy protagonist tasked with saving the world from a strange form of enforced happiness. It has already gained attention as one of the platform’s most-watched dramas. In contrast, “Shape Island” takes a softer approach, focusing on friendship and emotional growth through simple storytelling aimed at younger audiences.

The documentary category is where Apple TV shows its range. “Come See Me in the Good Light” explores love and resilience in the face of terminal illness, while “Mr. Scorsese” offers an in-depth look at the life and work of legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese through rare archival access and interviews. “Vietnam: The War That Changed America” adds a historical dimension, using firsthand accounts and archival footage to revisit one of the most defining conflicts of the 20th century.

The Peabody Awards organization reviews over a thousand entries each year, with a panel of jurors selecting nominees based on storytelling quality and cultural relevance. Winners for 2026 will be announced on April 23, followed by a ceremony on May 31 in Los Angeles.

Apple TV has built a strong track record with the Peabody Awards over the past few years. The platform earned its first wins in 2021 with “Ted Lasso” and “Stillwater,” followed by additional wins in 2023 for “Severance,” “Bad Sisters,” and “El Deafo.” In 2025, it picked up another award for “Bread & Roses.”
