Anthropic has completed the full rollout of Claude Cowork to iPhone, iPad, and web browsers for all paid subscription tiers. The expansion marks a phased deployment that began in early July with the Max plan and accelerated through Team and Pro over six weeks.
Claude Cowork is Anthropic’s autonomous agent feature that accepts a task and executes it across your files, calendar, email, messaging apps, web, and any connected third-party tools until completion. On mobile, Claude works in the background in the cloud even when your device is offline, sending an alert only when it needs permission to proceed.
Chat and Cowork now share one home tab on web and desktop, consolidating the sidebar, search, and Projects & Artifacts into a single interface. On iPad, the experience mirrors the desktop layout where screen real estate permits, while iPhone focuses on task management and status updates.
Anthropic extended doubled usage limits for Cowork through August 5 to incentivize early adoption. The Cowork side panel itself rolled out first to Max and Team customers on August 12, with Pro tier access following in coming weeks.
Anthropic’s mobile launch arrives weeks after OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Work, its own cross-platform autonomous agent powered by GPT-5.6 models (rolled out July 9). Both operate on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the web, allowing users to start tasks on one device and manage them from another.
Claude Cowork emphasizes cloud-based background execution even when offline, while ChatGPT Work highlights direct operation across your computer’s apps via built-in Codex. Both represent the market’s shift toward autonomous agents as a primary interface for AI interaction.
