First developer beta for watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, and visionOS 26.4 released

Apple has released the first developer beta for watchOS 26.4, tvOS 26.4, and visionOS 26.4. These updates follow the recent public rollout of version 26.3 across Apple devices, which focused on bug fixes, security improvements, and minor feature additions.

watchOS 26.4 beta

The 26.4 beta cycle brings new developer tools and features for all three platforms. On tvOS, developers can now check the status of asset packs offline using localStatus(ofAssetPackWithID:) or assetPackIsAvailableLocally(withID:), and ensure the latest version of an asset pack is available locally. Networking improvements address CFRunLoopSource leaks with automatic proxy configurations, and StoreKit adds new fields, revocationType and revocationPercentage, to Transaction objects. SwiftUI now properly surfaces the latest .userActivity, though some implicit animation issues remain.

watchOS 26.4 focuses on stability and app enhancements. The Movement Disorder API has improved analytics for database access errors, networking fixes mirror those in tvOS, and StoreKit updates are consistent. Apple Maps may still fail to load directions on the Watch when paired with an iPhone, and Workout Buddy timers may appear delayed, requiring workarounds. SwiftUI improvements are included as well.

visionOS 26.4 introduces similar asset pack controls and StoreKit updates, along with foveated streaming support via NVIDIA CloudXR, enabling high-resolution immersive content on Apple Vision Pro. Known issues include partial functionality in the remote streaming API and SwiftUI animation quirks. Networking improvements follow the same fixes as tvOS and watchOS.

Developers can download these betas through the Settings app on each device after installing Xcode 26.4. VisionOS 26.4 remains developer-only, while watchOS and tvOS betas are expected to reach public testers later this month. These releases primarily prepare apps for the final 26.4 builds and provide early access to new APIs and enhancements. Users should avoid installing betas on primary devices.
