Google has introduced the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, its most advanced foldable device yet. With a refined design, upgraded displays, and exclusive AI features powered by the Tensor G5 chip, the new Fold aims to deliver a seamless combination of smartphone portability and tablet-style productivity.
This year’s Pixel Fold sets a new benchmark by becoming the first foldable with IP68 dust and water resistance, a feature previously missing from foldable devices. Alongside a redesigned hinge and brighter displays, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold positions itself as a powerful alternative to large-screen smartphones and compact tablets.
Design and durability upgrades
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold introduces a gearless hinge for smoother folding and long-term reliability. The hinge is slimmer than before, allowing for narrower bezels and a sleeker profile. Its IP68 rating ensures protection against dust and water, making it the most durable Pixel foldable to date.
The outer display has grown to 6.4 inches with improved usability, while the inner screen expands to 8 inches. Both panels are OLED with higher peak brightness for visibility outdoors, and the inner display supports up to 3,000 nits for HDR content.
Tensor G5 and AI-first experiences
Like the Pixel 10 series, the Fold runs on the Tensor G5 processor, optimized for AI performance. Exclusive features include:
- Magic Cue for contextual prompts during work and messaging.
- Voice-imitating call translation, which preserves the speaker’s tone while delivering real-time translations.
- AI multitasking tools, allowing drag-and-drop between apps and contextual suggestions when working across multiple windows.
- Gemini Pro integration for AI-powered productivity apps and creative editing tools.
Camera system
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold inherits a versatile triple-camera setup:
- 48MP wide main sensor
- 10.5MP ultrawide sensor
- 10.8MP telephoto with 10× optical zoom
On the front, there are dual 10MP selfie cameras, one on the outer display and one on the inner display. AI-enhanced tools like Camera Coach and Auto Best Take are included, while video benefits from Tensor G5-powered stabilization and AI-based editing features.
Battery and performance
The device is powered by a 5,015mAh battery, supporting 30W wired charging and 15W Pixelsnap wireless charging. It also includes 16GB of RAM for improved multitasking and storage configurations of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, NFC, and dual SIM support.
Pixelsnap charging support
Like the Pixel 10 family, the Fold integrates Pixelsnap, Google’s new Qi2-based magnetic charging system. It supports magnetic alignment for wireless charging and is compatible with the new Snap case, magnetic charging ring, and stand.
Colors and finishes
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be available in Black and Silver finishes. It uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an aluminum frame, with durability further reinforced by its IP68 rating.
Price and release date
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is available for pre-order now and will officially launch on August 28 in select regions. Pricing starts at $1,799 for the 256GB model, with higher-capacity configurations available at additional cost. Pixelsnap accessories launch alongside the device.
A foldable future
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold reflects Google’s vision for blending productivity and portability. With a durable hinge, IP68 resistance, Tensor G5-driven AI features, and an 8-inch inner display, the device expands Google’s ecosystem into premium foldables. For Apple users, the Fold highlights an area where Google is innovating ahead of Cupertino, as Apple continues to test foldable concepts without a consumer product on the market.
