Apple seeds iOS 26.1 and macOS Tahoe 26.1 beta 3 to developers

Apple has released iOS 26.1 beta 3 and macOS Tahoe 26.1 beta 3 to registered developers, alongside new builds of iPadOS 26.1, watchOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1, and visionOS 26.1. The latest updates are available through the Apple Developer Center and can also be downloaded directly on compatible devices via the Software Update section in Settings or System Settings.

These betas follow the second developer builds from earlier this month, marking another step in Apple’s ongoing testing cycle for the 26.1 releases. While Apple has not shared public release notes, these versions generally include performance enhancements, security patches, and bug fixes. Developer betas like these are primarily aimed at improving app stability and ensuring compatibility with the next public updates across all Apple platforms.

If you are already running a prior developer beta, installing the latest update is straightforward. On iPhone or iPad, navigate to Settings > General > Software Update to download iOS 26.1 beta 3 or iPadOS 26.1 beta 3. On Mac, go to System Settings > General > Software Update to access macOS Tahoe 26.1 beta 3. Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro users can also install the corresponding builds through their system update menus. An active Apple Developer Program profile linked to your Apple ID is required to receive these updates.

Although these third betas do not appear to introduce any major new features, they are key for system refinement and background improvements that help stabilize the broader ecosystem. Apple often uses mid-cycle beta releases like iOS 26.1 beta 3 and macOS Tahoe 26.1 beta 3 to test performance tuning and user experience adjustments before rolling them out to the public.

As Apple continues refining its software lineup, these betas lay the groundwork for the final 26.1 versions expected later this fall. We will continue to monitor all six platforms for any emerging changes or new additions and share detailed coverage once notable updates are confirmed in these builds.
