iOS 26.4 makes personal hotspot data easier to track

Apple has released iOS 26.4 beta 1 to developers, and one of the more practical changes focuses on Personal Hotspot data usage. The update makes it much easier to see exactly which devices are using your iPhone’s cellular connection and how much data they consume.

iOS 26.4 Personal Hotspot data usage

For users on limited carrier plans, this small interface tweak can make a meaningful difference. Instead of digging through deeper cellular settings, iOS 26.4 now surfaces hotspot data usage directly inside the Personal Hotspot menu in Settings.

In iOS 26.4, you can go to Settings > Personal Hotspot and find a new Data Usage section at the bottom of the screen. This section appears after you have recently used hotspot. Inside, you get a per-device breakdown showing how much mobile data each connected device has consumed.

Apple devices are listed individually, while non-Apple hardware is grouped under “Other Devices.” The total Personal Hotspot data usage is also displayed, giving you a clearer overview of overall consumption. If you want to reset the numbers, you can do so by resetting your cellular usage statistics under Settings > Cellular.

Previously, this information existed but was buried inside cellular settings, making it easy to miss. By moving hotspot data usage directly into the Personal Hotspot screen, iOS 26.4 improves visibility and makes monitoring data limits more practical for everyday use.

iOS 26.4 beta 1 is currently available to registered developers, with a public beta expected soon. Apple is planning a broader release in the spring, assuming testing continues smoothly.

For anyone who regularly tethers an iPad, MacBook, or other device to their iPhone, the updated Personal Hotspot data usage view in iOS 26.4 is a welcome and overdue refinement.
