Missing a call is easy, but remembering to return it at the right time is not. iOS 26 solves this problem with a new callback reminder feature that lets you create a reminder directly from a missed call in the Phone app. Instead of clearing a notification and forgetting about it, you can now schedule a reminder that prompts you to follow up later.
The new option integrates the Phone and Reminders apps, so that any reminder you set is directly linked to the missed call details. When the notification appears, it shows the contact or number you missed, making it clear who you need to call back. While it does not place the call for you, it ensures you have the reminder at hand, with the caller’s information right there when you are ready to return it.
To set a callback reminder for a missed call in iOS 26, follow these steps:
- Open the Phone app on your iPhone.
- Tap on the Recents tab to view your call history.
- Locate the missed call you want to follow up on and swipe left. You will now see two icons. Tap the blue watchface icon.
- Choose from the preset reminder options, such as Remind Me In 1 Hour or Remind Me Tomorrow, or select Reminder Me Later… to pick a specific time that works best.
- Confirm your selection, and the reminder will be created in the Reminders app.
When the set time arrives, your iPhone will show a notification with the reminder. Opening it will display the contact information, so you can quickly decide when and how to return the call.
This feature is especially helpful if you often miss calls during meetings, while commuting, or in situations where you cannot answer immediately. Instead of relying on memory, you have a structured way to keep track of important follow-ups without letting them slip through the cracks.
With iOS 26, Apple continues refining small but meaningful features that improve daily productivity. Callback reminders may not automate the process of calling back, but they provide a reliable, built-in way to stay on top of missed calls without needing extra apps or manual notes.
