macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 2 released with AirDrop and StoreKit fixes

Apple has released macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 2 for developers, focusing on key fixes across AirDrop, Instruments, and StoreKit. This version does not introduce user facing features, but it improves reliability for developers preparing their apps for the upcoming public release. The macOS 26.2 SDK ships with Xcode 26.2 and includes updates that affect subscription testing, device discovery, and memory analysis.

This second beta builds on the first by refining internal behavior and resolving issues that may have affected app performance during early testing. It also brings macOS in line with several improvements already seen on iOS, giving developers a consistent experience across platforms as Apple moves toward the final release.

AirDrop is one of the primary areas impacted. Devices that were set to Everyone in beta 1 may not appear to machines running beta 2. Apple recommends updating both devices to macOS 26.2 beta 2 or ensuring that the Apple account email or phone number is saved in Contacts for both devices. This serves as the temporary workaround to maintain reliable discoverability.

Instruments receives a notable fix for developers working with Swift code. The Allocations instrument previously failed to capture some reference counting operations for native Swift types. Beta 2 resolves this, improving the accuracy of memory profiling and helping developers better diagnose performance issues.

StoreKit testing also sees updates in this beta. Apple has fixed a problem that blocked subscription purchases using win back offers in StoreKit Testing through Xcode. However, one known issue remains. SubscriptionStatus.all may still return outdated subscription information after a change. Apple advises waiting up to 24 hours for the results to refresh during testing.
