Apple releases macOS Tahoe 26.2 developer beta 1

Apple has released macOS Tahoe 26.2 developer beta 1 to registered developers. The update follows last week’s macOS Tahoe 26.1 public release and continues Apple’s steady cycle of refinements to its desktop operating system. Developers can download the new beta from System Settings > General > Software Update after enrolling their Macs in the Apple Developer Program.

macOS Tahoe

macOS Tahoe introduced a major redesign earlier this year, featuring the Liquid Glass interface, the Phone app for Mac, Live Activities on the desktop, and tighter integration with iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro. With version 26.2, Apple shifts attention to incremental updates and stability improvements rather than introducing large new capabilities.

The first developer beta includes a few visible app-level changes and smaller design adjustments that bring macOS further in line with iOS and iPadOS updates. While not a feature-heavy release, it focuses on refining existing tools and polishing system behavior for developers and testers.

Among the early changes found in this release:

  • Reminders now includes a new option to trigger an alarm when a reminder becomes due.
  • The News app features minor visual tweaks that align it with Apple’s updated interface style.
  • The Podcasts app has been updated with small layout and playback refinements.

Apple typically uses these mid-cycle betas to finalize under-the-hood frameworks and app behavior before a wider public rollout. The company has not listed any major known issues in the developer release notes, suggesting the focus remains on usability consistency and minor interface polish.

Developers are advised to test their apps against the new build and submit feedback using the Feedback Assistant app. As with all early betas, it is recommended to install macOS Tahoe 26.2 developer beta 1 on a secondary device. A public beta version will be is expected to follow soon, leading to a general release later in the year.

macOS Tahoe 26.2 developer beta 1 carries build number 25C5031g and can be accessed under Beta Updates > macOS Developer Beta within System Settings.
