Netflix has rolled out a major update to its Moments feature on iOS, giving viewers the ability to create precise clips from their favorite shows and movies. Instead of only saving a starting point, users can now set both a beginning and an end, turning memorable scenes into standalone videos that can be saved, replayed, and shared.
When watching on mobile, tapping the Clip button brings up a filmstrip with drag handles to adjust where the scene starts and finishes. Saved clips appear in the My Netflix tab for easy access and can be posted directly to social platforms, linking followers back to the exact scene in the Netflix app. This makes Moments more useful than the original bookmark-style version, which acted more like a viewing reminder than a shareable highlight.
The update arrives alongside the release of Wednesday season 2, part 2, a strategic choice given the show’s history of generating viral clips. During the first season, Wednesday Addams’s dance scene spread across social media and became one of Netflix’s most iconic cultural moments. By enhancing Moments now, Netflix is ensuring fans can capture and share the highlights of the new season with far greater precision.
Moments has already been used across thousands of titles since launching last year. Netflix reports that the most saved moment globally is the Saja Boys’ performance of “Soda Pop” in KPop Demon Hunters, followed by “Your Idol” and “How It’s Done” from the same movie. These examples highlight how visually and musically striking scenes resonate most with audiences, fueling replays and conversation.
Alongside Moments, the company has been testing a redesigned homepage and a vertical video feed that mirrors TikTok’s short-form style. These additions show Netflix’s effort to adapt streaming to how audiences consume content today: quickly, socially, and with a personal touch.
