The waitlist serves two critical functions: managing the 10GB+ of model data each device must download to run Siri AI, and controlling traffic to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers that handle most non-basic Siri AI requests. This infrastructure constraint appears to be the primary reason Apple cannot simply enable Siri AI for everyone simultaneously.
During iOS 27’s developer beta period starting in June 2026, Siri AI’s waitlist moved significantly slower than Apple’s initial Apple Intelligence rollout in 2024, when some users received access in around 10 minutes. This time around, some developers reported waiting five days or more after signing up hours after Apple’s keynote.
