Apple is working on a next-generation version of Siri that can handle multiple requests in a single prompt, marking one of the most significant changes to the assistant in years. The feature is currently in testing and is expected to arrive with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.

The update aims to move Siri closer to modern AI assistants that already support multi-step instructions. Instead of issuing separate commands one by one, users will be able to combine tasks into a single voice request, with Siri parsing and executing each part.
At a basic level, this means a single prompt could include actions like checking the weather, creating a calendar event, and sending a message. Today, Siri typically requires each of these steps to be triggered individually, which limits how efficiently users can complete more complex tasks.
The ability to process multiple commands is part of a broader overhaul of Siri that Apple has been developing since 2024. This effort is tied to Apple Intelligence and focuses on making the assistant more context-aware, more capable within apps, and better at understanding what is happening on the user’s screen.
Apple is also working on deeper integration across its ecosystem. Reports indicate that the updated Siri will be able to perform hundreds of in-app actions, moving beyond simple queries into more task-oriented workflows. For example, users may eventually be able to ask Siri to retrieve a photo, edit it, and send it in a message through a single instruction.

A key part of this evolution is the underlying AI foundation. Apple is reportedly building the new Siri on a modern foundation model, with technology influenced by Google’s Gemini. This shift is intended to give Siri stronger natural language understanding and better reasoning across combined requests.
Alongside multi-command support, Apple is also testing a more chatbot-like interface for Siri. This would allow users to view past interactions, revisit previous commands, and interact with Siri in a more conversational way, similar to other AI tools. A standalone Siri experience is also being explored, though it will remain tightly integrated across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
Another area under consideration is expanded Siri Extensions. Today, integration is limited, but Apple is reportedly working on opening this framework further so that third-party AI assistants and services installed through the App Store can connect with Siri.
There are still limitations in place. Even with multi-command support, the rollout is expected to be gradual, and some features may launch in preview form before reaching full stability. Apple has faced delays in delivering earlier AI upgrades, and the same careful approach appears to apply here.
Apple is expected to preview these changes at WWDC 2026 on June 8, with broader availability targeted for the iOS 27 release cycle later in the year.
