Apple brings studio-quality audio and camera remote control to AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4

At WWDC 2025, Apple announced a major update for AirPods Pro 2 and the AirPods 4, introducing studio-quality audio recording and remote camera control. These features are designed to help users capture better audio and video with fewer accessories, especially for creators, students, and professionals who rely on iPhone and iPad for recording on the go.

With the power of the H2 chip, new beamforming microphones, and Voice Isolation, users can now record high-quality voice in Voice Memos, Messages, FaceTime, and even third-party apps like Webex. This is especially helpful in noisy environments, where most built-in mics struggle to keep the voice clean. The result is clearer, more natural voice recordings across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The new AirPods update also adds remote camera control. With a simple press and hold on the AirPods stem, users can start or stop video recording or take a photo on their iPhone or iPad. This works with both the native Camera app and supported third-party apps. It’s a practical tool for anyone filming solo, from dancers to vloggers to fitness creators.

This isn’t the first time Apple has used the H2 chip to enhance audio. But by pairing it with new software features in iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe, the company is pushing AirPods deeper into the creative workflow. You don’t need an external mic or extra camera accessories. AirPods can now handle both clean audio and remote control in one device.

The features are available in beta versions of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26. Developers can try them now, and a public beta will roll out next month. Apple plans to release these features officially in fall 2025 as a free firmware update for AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with ANC, and AirPods Pro 2.
