Tag Heuer has unveiled the Connected Calibre E5, its latest luxury smartwatch, and the first in the brand’s lineup to officially carry Made for iPhone certification. This marks a major turning point for Tag Heuer’s wearable strategy, bridging the gap between Android and Apple ecosystems while maintaining the brand’s signature Swiss craftsmanship.
For years, Wear OS smartwatches have offered limited functionality when paired with iPhones, often restricted in notifications, fitness data sharing, and app control. With the Connected Calibre E5, Tag Heuer resolves these issues by enabling deeper iOS integration through new firmware and an updated companion app. The Made for iPhone certification means iOS users can now experience the watch’s full range of features without sacrificing performance or connectivity.
The improved iOS compatibility allows notifications, messages, and call alerts to sync more reliably. Activity data such as heart rate, workout history, and daily movement now feed directly into Apple Health, eliminating the need for third-party bridges. This level of integration also extends to the updated Tag Heuer Connected app, which now communicates more effectively with Apple’s system-level APIs to provide faster synchronization, firmware updates, and seamless watch face customization.
Beyond the software integration, the Connected Calibre E5 brings several hardware improvements. It features a redesigned case available in 42mm and 45mm sizes, crafted from stainless steel or lightweight titanium. The new AMOLED display offers higher brightness and sharper contrast, improving visibility in bright sunlight. Tag Heuer has also streamlined the overall case profile for better comfort while maintaining its sporty yet elegant design.
Powering the smartwatch is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 platform, paired with improved battery efficiency and faster app performance. The upgraded chip ensures smooth animations and quicker responses across the interface. Charging has been redesigned as well, featuring a new magnetic base that locks securely into place and reduces charging time.
The Calibre E5 continues to run on Google’s Wear OS, but Tag Heuer’s enhancements make it stand out from standard models. The interface includes exclusive digital watch faces inspired by the brand’s mechanical icons like the Carrera and Monaco. These faces combine luxury aesthetics with live metrics such as step count, heart rate, and progress rings.
The upgraded sensor array improves workout tracking accuracy, with more reliable GPS and heart rate measurements during runs or rides. Users can now sync this health data directly to Apple Health, reflecting Tag Heuer’s effort to make the Calibre E5 equally powerful for both Android and iPhone users.
This launch also signals a larger shift in strategy for Tag Heuer’s connected division. By achieving Made for iPhone certification, the company is positioning itself as the first luxury watchmaker to offer a Wear OS device that works natively with Apple’s ecosystem. It sets the stage for broader appeal among iPhone users who appreciate premium craftsmanship but want more variety than Apple’s own watch lineup provides.
The Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E5 will be available through authorized boutiques and online channels later this month. While pricing has not been confirmed, it is expected to align closely with the previous E4 generation.
