WhatsApp brings Liquid Glass design to iOS 26

WhatsApp has released version 25.28.75 for iOS, introducing a major visual overhaul with Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language. The update, now available on the App Store, aligns WhatsApp’s interface with the aesthetics of iOS 26, incorporating depth, transparency, and fluid motion throughout the app.

Liquid Glass marks WhatsApp’s most significant interface redesign in years. The feature introduces translucent layers, reflective surfaces, and soft depth effects, giving the app a refined and modern appearance. By integrating Apple’s iOS 26 SDK, WhatsApp can now utilize real-time background reflections and blur transitions that dynamically react to user interaction, enhancing the immersive experience.

The new update reimagines key visual components, starting with the tab bar, which now appears to float above the main interface. It features adaptive transparency and smooth animations that make navigation more responsive. The keyboard and buttons have also been updated with semi-translucent finishes that adjust naturally to both light and dark modes, making the app feel visually cohesive with iOS 26’s overall aesthetic.

WhatsApp’s context menus have also been redesigned with subtle transparency and depth effects that blend with background content. This unifies the app’s visual experience across screens and menus, giving users a consistent and polished design language. Although the chat bar still uses the previous flat layout, future updates are expected to complete the transition to the full Liquid Glass interface.

The rollout of Liquid Glass is gradual, currently available to select users and beta testers on iOS 26. WhatsApp is collecting feedback and monitoring performance before expanding access more broadly. Recent updates have also resolved bugs related to transparency and visual rendering, improving both stability and responsiveness. Once the wider release begins, iPhone users can expect a refreshed WhatsApp experience that feels smoother, deeper, and fully aligned with Apple’s latest design system.
