In the latest edition of his “Power On” newsletter for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman revealed that Apple is set to announce the next-generation 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models in ” in a matter of days.”

The devices, codenamed J617 and J620, will come equipped with the M2 chip. Apple says that the M2 chip features an 18 percent faster CPU, a 35 percent more powerful GPU, and a 40 percent faster Neural Engine than the industry-leading M1 chip.

As for the externals of the device, it has been reported previously that This year’s updated iPad Pro models will not feature a significant external redesign. Gurman reiterated this prediction, saying the “new iPads will look similar to the pro model from last year, bringing the same flat-edge design into its fourth year.”

Gurman has previously said that the next-generation iPad Pro models will offer wireless charging and an improved camera system. In addition, an earlier report from Mac Otakara suggests that the upcoming iPads will feature two new 4-pin connectors. The current iPad Pro models feature three pins that can be used to connect to the Magic Keyboard and the MagSafe 3 connector.

As for the MacBook Pro lineup, they are “on track to launch in the near future,” Gurman said. Since Apple has historically launched new Macs in November, it is possible that the new models could be announced via a press release next month.

Similar to the upcoming iPad models, the new MacBook Pros will retain last year’s flat edge-to-edge design. However, they will feature significant internal upgrades. Gurman believes that the laptops will be the first devices to get the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.

According to Gurman, Apple will announce new iPads and Macs via a press release instead of an event due to a lack of new hardware. It is widely expected that the 10th-generation redesigned iPad will also be announced alongside the new iPad Pro models.
