Apple has introduced Digital Prism Correction with visionOS 26, a feature designed for Apple Vision Pro users who have prism in their eyeglass prescriptions. By entering prism values directly into the headset, users can improve visual alignment, comfort, and eye tracking accuracy without relying solely on optical inserts. This marks one of the most significant accessibility and comfort updates since Vision Pro’s launch.
The feature is currently available only in the United States and U.S. territories. It works with both ZEISS Optical Inserts and the default Vision Pro displays, ensuring broader compatibility for those who require prism correction. Once enabled, the system recalibrates eye tracking and resets prior eye-comfort adjustments, which can then be reapplied after setup. Apple notes that the supported range goes up to 7.75 prism diopters per eye, covering both horizontal and vertical corrections, or the equivalent when entered as a polar angle.
Requirements and limitations
Before setting up Digital Prism Correction, there are several important requirements and limitations to keep in mind. Apple emphasizes that users should only input values from their official prescription and not attempt to guess or estimate prism settings.
- Requires visionOS 26 or later on Apple Vision Pro
- Only available in the U.S. and U.S. territories
- Works with both ZEISS Optical Inserts and the default displays
- Supports up to 7.75 prism diopters per eye across BI/BO/BU/BD or angle inputs (0-359°)
- Resets prior eye-comfort adjustments during setup
- Needs the exact prism values from a prescription provided by an eye-care professional
How to set up Digital Prism Correction
Digital Prism Correction can be added in just a few steps through the Settings app on Vision Pro. During setup, the system temporarily disables other content and guides you through recalibration.
- Open Settings on Apple Vision Pro and go to Eyes & Hands.
- Under Displays & Optical Inserts, tap the more button next to ZEISS Optical Inserts or Default Displays.
- Select Add Prism Prescription.
- When asked if prism is included in your prescription, choose Yes, Prism Is in My Prescription.
- Pick whether your values are in Base or Angle form.
- Choose the first eye to configure (Right/OD or Left/OS).
- Enter the prescription values:
- For Base, select Base In (BI), Base Out (BO), Base Up (BU), or Base Down (BD).
- For Angle, enter the value in degrees.
- Repeat for the other eye if needed.
- Tap Confirm and complete the guided dot-tracking calibration.
Once completed, Digital Prism Correction will be active across your Vision Pro experience.
Updating, removing, and guest use
Prism prescriptions can be updated or removed anytime by returning to Settings > Eyes & Hands > Displays & Optical Inserts. If multiple people use the headset, Guest User can also access their own prism settings by restoring them from an iPhone or iPad during setup. When the session ends, the device reverts to the owner’s stored prescription.
If discomfort or inaccurate eye tracking persists after setup, Apple advises double-checking that the correct prescription values were entered and re-running the calibration. Inconsistent results may require guidance from an eye-care professional.
