iOS 26.2 public beta expands new Lock Screen and Health updates to all users

Apple has released the first public beta of iOS 26.2, giving more users access to features previously introduced in the developer beta. The update brings refinements across Lock Screen customization, Health tracking, and productivity apps ahead of its expected December release.

One of the standout additions in iOS 26.2 is the Liquid Glass slider for the Lock Screen. This feature lets users fine-tune how translucent or solid the clock display appears. Whether you prefer a subtle frosted look or a fully solid clock, the new control gives greater flexibility to match wallpapers and widgets. It’s a small change, but one that makes iOS 26’s design feel more personal and polished.

Apple has also refined the Sleep Score system in the Health app. The “Excellent” category has been replaced with “Very High,” and scoring thresholds have been recalibrated for more accurate results. These adjustments apply across both iOS 26.2 and watchOS 26.2, ensuring Apple Watch users get a more realistic view of their sleep quality. The update comes in response to feedback from users who found the earlier scoring scale too generous.

The Reminders app now supports alarms for urgent tasks. When a reminder is marked as “Urgent,” iOS triggers a lock screen alert with Snooze and Stop options, much like an alarm clock. It’s a subtle but practical addition for time-sensitive tasks like taking medication or joining a call, allowing quick actions without opening the app.

In the Podcasts app, Apple is using AI to make long episodes easier to navigate. iOS 26.2 brings auto-generated chapters, detected links, and related show suggestions directly within the app. The News app also gets an updated layout with one-tap access to sections like Sports, Business, and Politics for a cleaner, more organized experience.

For users in the European Union, AirPods Live Translation is expanding with iOS 26.2. The feature supports real-time language translation through compatible AirPods and is expected to roll out widely once the update exits beta in December.

Other improvements include table support in Freeform, enhanced Safety Alerts for emergencies, and background performance refinements across the system.

The iOS 26.2 public beta is available to iPhone 11 and newer models, including the iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). Users can join Apple’s Beta Software Program through Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates.
