Apple has released macOS Tahoe 26.5.2, a minor update for Mac that arrives approximately four weeks after macOS Tahoe 26.5.1. The update ships alongside iOS 26.5.2. Full release notes have not yet been confirmed, but Apple describes the update as including general bug fixes for Mac. The update is available over-the-air for compatible Macs by going to System Settings, General, Software Update.

What’s new in macOS Tahoe 26.5.2
Apple’s release notes for macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 are limited at this stage. The update is described as delivering bug fixes for Mac, though the specifics of what is addressed have not been confirmed. No feature additions have been listed, which fits with where macOS Tahoe is in its lifecycle. Since WWDC 2026, Tahoe has been in what Apple watchers typically call maintenance mode, meaning only bug fixes and security patches are on the table going forward.
The previous update, macOS Tahoe 26.5.1, addressed an unexpected shutdown issue that affected enterprise users running M5 Macs with certain content filtering network extensions. Before that, macOS 26.5 itself was a quiet release, adding little beyond a new power control setting in Energy preferences for the Mac mini, Mac Studio, and iMac.
Apple is already testing macOS Tahoe 26.6, with two developer and public betas seeded so far, though no major features are expected there either. The bigger story is macOS Golden Gate, the next-generation version of macOS arriving this fall, which is where Apple’s software engineering focus has clearly shifted. The third beta of macOS Golden Gate is expected to be released to developers next, followed by a public beta in July, open to the general public.
For most Mac users, macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 is a routine update worth installing for the bug fixes alone. We will update this article once Apple’s full release notes are available. Apple has also released iOS 26.5.2 and iPadOS 26.5.2 to users today as minor updates.
