Apple has released another developer beta firmware update for supported AirPods models, continuing to refine the new audio features coming with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate.
The latest firmware, build 9A5336b, is available for AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2. While Apple hasn’t detailed any new changes in this release, the update continues testing support for several features announced at WWDC 2026.
The beta firmware supports the latest AirPods features introduced alongside iOS 27.
Compatible models gain a redesigned AirPods settings interface, a new slider for adjusting Adaptive Audio, and support for Custom EQ, allowing users to fine-tune their listening experience. The firmware also enables compatibility with Siri AI when paired with a supported iPhone, iPad, or Mac running Apple’s latest beta software.

Installing the update requires an iPhone, iPad, or Mac running the latest developer beta of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 Golden Gate. Users must also enable Beta Updates from the AirPods settings menu.
Once enabled, the firmware installs automatically while the AirPods are charging and within Bluetooth range of the paired device. Unlike iPhone or Mac software updates, AirPods firmware can’t be installed manually, so it may take several hours before the new version appears.
Apple will likely continue releasing additional beta firmware updates over the coming weeks as it prepares the final AirPods software update for the public launch of iOS 27 this fall.
