Apple’s LG Smart Deadbolt Lock and Smart Thermostat Appear in First Photos

The first images of the home accessories Apple co-developed with LG have surfaced. They show a smart lock with a rotating keypad, a round smart thermostat and a small temperature sensor, all carrying the LG name.

The details come from a thread by pdfu on X, who shared photos and short videos of the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, LG Smart Thermostat and LG Temperature Sensor, along with notes on their settings and hardware. Apple has not confirmed any of it. We covered the wider lineup earlier today in our report on the LG-built doorbell, lock and thermostat headed for Apple’s smart home push.

The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock Has a Keypad That Rotates to Open

The keypad on the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock rotates to open the door. A swivel pin comes in the box and limits the rotation on one side, so the keypad does not touch a wall when the door opens against it.

The thread lists a long set of settings and supported features. Here is how it breaks down:

Area Details
Keypad Rotates to open, with an included swivel pin to limit rotation on one side
Settings Touchpad Light Ring, Door Left Audio Alarm and Lock Sound Volume
Unlocking Automatic unlocking and tap to unlock
Backup access Emergency power, master codes and 2 mechanical keys
Bracket fit 2.375 in (60.3 mm) and 2.75 in (69.9 mm)

The Door Left Audio Alarm setting points to a warning sound when the door is left open. Earlier FCC and UL filings listed ultra-wideband support on the lock, which would line up with the automatic unlocking. Those filings also list Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread and Matter across many of the LG devices.

The LG Smart Thermostat and LG Temperature Sensor Come With Plenty of Display and Sensing Options

The LG Smart Thermostat is a white, round unit. The images show a large temperature reading on the display, with 72 on screen in both shots.

The thread lists settings for Far Sight Display, Humidity Display, Brightness and Language. It also mentions Calibrated Temperature and Temperature Offset options, which let owners correct the reading if it runs high or low compared to a room.

The LG Temperature Sensor is a small white disc that tracks both temperature and humidity. According to the thread, it has these details:

  • A magnetic back to attach to metal surfaces
  • A metal plate with adhesive for attaching to other surfaces
  • A replaceable battery, with replacement alerts

Apple’s Smart Home Hub Comes First, With the LG Accessories Months Later

Apple is expected to introduce its smart home hub on October 13, alongside a new HomePod mini and Apple TV. The LG accessories are running behind that hardware and are not expected to reach customers for at least a few more months.

LG has asked the FCC to keep photos and detailed specifications of these products confidential until early next year.
