Apple HomeView Is a 7-Inch Siri AI Smart Display at $299

Apple has officially introduced Apple HomeView, its first smart home display, and it costs $299 in the U.S. Pre-orders open today, October 13, with the first units shipping Friday, November 13.

Apple HomeView

The device features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display connected to a domed speaker base by a stainless steel hinge. It runs on an A18 chip and comes in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray.

The display adjusts its brightness automatically from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits, making it suitable for use on a nightstand in low-light conditions. Audio comes from two full-range drivers built into the display and a down-firing woofer with two passive radiators in the base.

Apple HomeView recognizes up to six faces and runs Siri AI on its own

Face recognition decides whose screen shows up. Each of up to six people gets a personal Home Screen with their own apps and widgets, plus access to their Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders, and Find My content. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, says the device is shared by the household yet should “feel completely personal to each user.”

Shared photo albums and music stay open to everyone in the house, including guests. Apple requires both a face match and a nearby, recently unlocked iPhone or iPad before personal content appears, and setup also needs a compatible iPhone or iPad. Camera and microphone data is processed in Secure Exclaves on the A18 chip, which Apple says nothing outside those protected runtimes can read, including Apple.

HomeView Design

Siri AI is built in, so anyone in the home can ask general questions, hold a longer conversation, and get better music suggestions without owning an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. It is labeled a beta in Apple HomeView software version 27.2 and works in English in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK. Some server-based Apple Intelligence features have daily usage limits, and Apple says expanded access will cost a fee in the future.

Pairing an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad adds personal context. Siri AI can then pull from Messages, Calendar, and Apple Music playlists and take actions across apps. Conversations that start on Apple HomeView continue in the Siri app, which syncs history through iCloud to iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro.

Custom Siri voice settings carry over from a paired iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro model, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro model, or an iPad with an M4 chip or later and at least 12GB of memory. Those voices are English only.

Apple HomeView shows up to nine cameras and works with Apple Home Collection

The Home Camera face livestreams up to nine video feeds at once, and the Home Modular face puts favorite accessories on one screen. Thermostats, lights, door locks, and blinds respond to touch or to voice commands through Siri AI.

The camera recognition features need a supported iCloud+ subscription. With compatible cameras, Apple HomeView uses end-to-end encrypted recognition of people, familiar faces, pets, packages, and vehicles, and it can describe HomeKit Secure Video clips so users do not have to watch them. It also listens for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and sends alerts to iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.

HomeView

Apple Home Collection is the matching hardware, a new lineup of cameras, thermostats, and a lock designed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. It starts arriving in December, with select accessories following in early 2027. The lock and thermostat were first seen in early photos ahead of the launch.

Apple Home Collection accessories need a compatible home hub such as Apple HomeView, HomePod, or Apple TV. Matter and Works with Apple Home accessories also work with Apple HomeView.

Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted) needs a mount that starts at $59.95

Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted) has the same 7-inch Liquid Retina display and costs $299 in the U.S., like the tabletop model. It comes in space gray and silver, with audio tuned for on-wall placement. Wall mounting needs one of three mounts from Schneider Home, and both self-installation and professional installation are options.

  • Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector from $59.95
  • Power Mount AC Wired from $79.95
  • Power Mount PoE Wired at $129.95, available in early 2027

HomeView Wall Mount

The first two mounts can be ordered today from apple.com/store and in the Apple Store app. Pre-orders also open today in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and the UK. Singapore starts Thursday, October 15, at 9 a.m. SGT, and South Africa goes through Apple Authorized Resellers.

Siri AI may take more than five months to reach EU iPhones, and Apple says it is working with the EU on a path forward. For now, Apple HomeView is not for sale in the European Union.
