Apple planning to release a redesigned iPad Pro, new Mac Pro, AR headset and more in 2022

Apple announced a ton of products in 2021 including the iPhone 13 lineup, AirTag, new Apple Silicon-powered Macs, third-generation AirPods, and more. According to a new report, there are still a ton of devices consumers can expect from the Cupertino tech giant in 2022. In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman lists everything he expects Apple to release next year.

Here’s a glimpse at what Apple has in store for 2022

In today’s newsletter, Gurman talks about everything he believes Apple will be releasing in 2022, following what he describes as a “modest year for Apple product releases.” On the topic of tablets, Gurman says Apple is planning to release a redesigned iPad Pro with support for wireless charging alongside updates to the lower-end iPad Air and entry-level iPad. For the 2022 iPad Pro, Bloomberg had previously reported that Apple is working on a redesigned model with a glass back to support MagSafe and allow wireless charging and reverse wireless charging functionality to work.

In addition, Gurman says Apple has a redesigned MacBook Air in the works for 2022, along with a “revamped, high-end iMac with Apple Silicon.” A new entry-level MacBook Pro, a new Mac Pro, and a new Mac mini are also expected to be released next year.

Gurman expects three new models for Apple Watch including a next-generation Apple Watch SE, an updated standard model – likely to be called Apple Watch Series 8 – and a “ruggedized version aimed at extreme sports athletes.”

Other suggestions include an iPhone SE with 5G connectivity, second-generation AirPods Pro, the iPhone 14 lineup, and most significantly, Apple’s highly-rumored AR/VR headset. “Gaming should be a strong focus of the machine,” he says, before mentioning its use of multiple processors, a cooling system, high-resolution displays, and its own App Store. “Look for Apple to position the device as a dream for game developers.”

Apple’s mixed reality headset has been marked for a Q2 2022 launch by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo before, and so far we have heard various reports such as it will use a high-resolution micro OLED display with 3,000 PPI, it will have to be paired with an iPhone or iPad to work and it will come with a hefty price tag.
