COVID-19 Website- A Digital Screening Tool

In efforts to help health authorities to contain the rapid spread of coronavirus, Apple designed two digital screening tools, COVID-19 app and website. Although the app and website are designed for users in United States, people around the globe can access COVID-19 website to evaluate their symptoms easily and quickly.

Both tools require users to answer a series of questions related to their medical history, health condition, and recent exposure to determine the next appropriate step to follow like see a doctor, isolate or others.

Apple fighting COVID-19

The coronavirus pandemic has redefined ‘normal lifestyle’ around the globe. Its life threatening symptoms and high transmission rate has pushed cities in lockdowns and has confined life to homes, worldwide. In this prevailing health crisis, Apple is actively assisting the health authorities by designing digital solutions for contact tracing, providing mobility data, providing locations of testing centers, and producing face shields for frontline warriors who are selflessly working around the clock for others. The company recently made $10 million investment in COPAN, a sample kits manufacturer.

For people at home, Apple uses its platform to bring them entertainment outlets to relieve pandemic related stress and anxiety. The Music app in iOS and Mac recently streamed One World concert virtual concert for subscribers.

In spite of facing development and production issues due to COVID-19 pandemic, Apple is launching new products and continuing work on upcoming products.
