OpenAI has released a sticker creation feature in ChatGPT that lets users generate custom stickers and export them directly to WhatsApp and iMessage. The feature, which builds on ChatGPT’s existing image generation capabilities, is now available to users and allows them to create messaging-specific visual assets and send them as custom sticker packs to their chat apps.
The “ChatGPT Stickers” feature lets users tap an “Add to WhatsApp” option to send their created stickers into WhatsApp as a custom sticker pack. WhatsApp enforces a three-sticker minimum per pack, a platform requirement rather than an OpenAI limitation. The feature also supports iMessage, bringing ChatGPT’s sticker creation capability to Apple’s messaging platform as well.
How ChatGPT’s Sticker Feature Works
The feature builds on ChatGPT’s existing image generation capabilities, which allow users to create original images from text descriptions or edit existing images with simple prompts. The sticker tool applies this same technology to create messaging-specific visual assets that users can then export as packs to their chat apps.
Users generate stickers within ChatGPT, then use a dedicated export option to send them to WhatsApp or iMessage as custom sticker packs. The three-sticker minimum means users need to create at least that many before exporting a pack, matching WhatsApp’s own sticker pack standards.

This sticker feature reflects OpenAI’s broader effort to embed ChatGPT deeper into the messaging platforms users rely on daily. In August, OpenAI also rolled out ChatGPT integration with Apple Messages on Mac, giving the app the ability to read, search, and respond to conversations across iMessage, SMS, and RCS.
The dual integration, stickers plus conversational access, positions OpenAI in direct competition with Meta’s approach. WhatsApp already offers AI-powered sticker creation through Meta AI, generating images from text prompts. Meanwhile, Apple has its own feature that lets users create stickers from photos to be used in iMessage and third-party apps.
