Apple released the fifth public beta for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, tvOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate, with simultaneous arrival of developer beta 7 across all platforms including visionOS 27 and watchOS 27. The company also pushed out public betas for HomePod 27 and a second release candidate for macOS Sequoia 15.8, maintaining the weekly release cadence as mid-September approaches.
At this point in the beta cycle, Apple is focused entirely on bug fixes and stability improvements rather than new features. The seventh developer betas carry build numbers 24A5424a for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, 26A5421a for macOS Golden Gate, 24J5358a for tvOS 27, 24M5359a for visionOS 27, and 24R5358a for watchOS 27. With only weeks before the official release, Apple’s emphasis on polish signals confidence in the launch schedule. Based on past patterns, developers should expect at most one additional beta before the release candidate phase.
What’s New in This Round
No significant new features or visible changes arrived with beta 7. The stability focus reflects how far these releases have matured since their June introduction at WWDC.
How to Install the Public Betas
Users can enroll in the Public Beta program at https://beta.apple.com. For iPhone specifically, navigate to General > Software Update > Beta Updates, select iOS 27 Public Beta, return to the Software Update screen, then tap Update Now when the beta appears. The same beta.apple.com portal provides enrollment for iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and HomePod.
Siri AI Remains the Centerpiece
Siri AI in iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate can search the web, access personal information, see what’s displayed on your screen, and take actions across multiple apps. Apple added a dedicated Siri app for back-and-forth conversations alongside integration of Apple Intelligence features in Photos, Safari, Shortcuts, Wallet, and Passwords. However, Siri AI remains unavailable in the European Union and China due to regional regulatory constraints.
macOS Golden Gate Hardware and Feature Requirements
Golden Gate runs on any Mac with an M1 chip or later, as well as the A18 Pro MacBook Neo; Intel Macs do not support it. Every Mac running Golden Gate gains access to Apple Intelligence, but some on-device Siri processing requires an M3 or later. This segmentation ensures older M1 and M2 users receive core AI features while reserving the most processor-intensive operations for newer silicon.
