Apple has released macOS 27 Golden Gate for compatible Macs, bringing Siri AI, Visual Intelligence, expanded Apple Intelligence features, Liquid Glass refinements, improved display support, faster performance, and several updates across built-in apps.
Siri AI is the biggest addition, with richer conversations, personal context, deeper app actions, and a dedicated Siri app. macOS 27 also lets you ask Siri about content on your screen, improves Safari and Mail, and adds new tools for external displays, Calendar, Podcasts, and more.
Siri AI Comes To Mac
macOS 27 brings Siri AI to Mac, powered by Apple Intelligence. Siri can handle open-ended questions, support natural back-and-forth conversations, help with research and creative projects, and provide detailed answers using online information.
Siri can also appear directly in Spotlight. When you search for something, you can choose Ask Siri as the top result instead of relying only on traditional file and app searches.
Siri Understands Your Personal Context
Siri AI can search through information stored on your Mac and find relevant content based on what you ask.
You can use Siri to locate an old photo, find an email buried in your inbox, or retrieve information from a note without manually searching through individual apps.
Siri Can Take Actions In Apps
Siri AI can perform actions across supported apps such as Messages, Music, and Reminders.
You can ask Siri to edit a message, create a reminder, add a song to a playlist, create a note, or perform other actions based on what you are doing on your Mac.
A Dedicated Siri App
macOS 27 adds a dedicated Siri app that keeps conversations in one place.
You can start a conversation on your iPhone and continue it on your Mac, pin conversations for quick access, or start a new Siri AI conversation directly from the Mac.
Write With Siri
Siri AI can also help with writing anywhere you type.
You can ask it to create a draft from scratch or provide feedback on existing text. In Messages and Mail, Siri can match your writing style, punctuation, and tone.
Visual Intelligence Comes To Mac
Visual Intelligence gets a Mac-specific implementation in macOS 27. You can take a screenshot of something on your display, such as an image or PDF, and ask Siri AI about what is shown.
The feature can provide information, search for related content, or help you take action based on what is visible on screen. This makes screenshots a new way to interact with information already open on your Mac.
Apple Intelligence Gets More Features
Apple is expanding Apple Intelligence across macOS 27, with new tools in Safari, Photos, Image Playground, and Shortcuts.
Photos gains Spatial Reframing, Extend, and an improved Clean Up tool. Image Playground can create and transform images in more styles, including photorealistic results.
Shortcuts can also create automations from natural-language descriptions. Instead of manually building a workflow, you can describe what you want the shortcut to do and let Apple Intelligence connect the required actions.
Safari Gets Smarter
Safari can automatically organize tabs into topics, making related webpages easier to find.
Safari Notify Me can also monitor webpages for changes and send an alert when something important happens, such as a price change or a product coming back in stock.
Liquid Glass Gets Refined
macOS 27 continues the Liquid Glass design while adding more control and improving readability.
Apple says the updated design uses more consistent refraction and better contrast. Toolbars become more uniform, sidebars can extend edge to edge, and window shapes and menu bar icons have also been updated.
A new slider lets users adjust the appearance of Liquid Glass from ultraclear to fully tinted.
macOS 27 Gets Faster
Apple has made several performance improvements throughout macOS 27.
AirDrop transfers are faster, network file browsing is more responsive, and Safari can load Start Page content more quickly. Mail also gets a new search ranking system that puts more relevant messages at the top of results.
Better Support For Ultrawide Displays
macOS 27 adds higher-resolution support for ultrawide displays, including resolutions such as 5K at 120Hz.

Ask to Browse can require children to request permission before accessing new websites, while parents can review requests through Messages before approving them.
Communication Safety can also intervene before children see or share nudity and now extends protection to shared images and videos containing gore or violence.
Parents can set Time Allowances for categories such as Games, Entertainment, and Social Media. Schedules can also determine which apps are available at specific times or days.
Calendar Can Create Events From Descriptions
Calendar gets a simpler way to create and edit events.
You can describe an event in natural language and have Calendar add the details. If plans change, you can describe the change and update the event without manually editing each field.
Call Context Surfaces Useful Information
Call Context can proactively surface relevant information from other apps during a business call.
For example, if you call an airline, macOS 27 can surface a confirmation code from Mail so you can access the information without leaving the call to search for it.
Podcasts Gets A New Video Experience
The Podcasts app gets an updated experience for video podcasts.
You can switch between watching and listening to a show more easily, making video podcasts feel more integrated with the existing audio podcast experience.
More macOS 27 Features
macOS 27 includes several additional changes across Apple’s apps and services.
- VoiceOver gets richer descriptions of onscreen content, while a new captioning feature can generate synced subtitles for videos and translate existing captions into other languages.
- iCloud Shared Albums now make it easier for Android and Windows users to contribute through iCloud.com. Full-resolution sharing, new filters, reactions, and additional invitation options are also included.
- Maps gets enhanced Flyover imagery using aerial photography and Visual Intelligence models to render detailed views of locations.

How To Install macOS 27
To install macOS 27 Golden Gate, open System Settings on your Mac and select General > Software Update. If the update is available, select Update or Upgrade and follow the onscreen instructions.
