visionOS 27 Beta 6 Arrives with Weekly Updates as Apple Eyes Fall Release

Apple has released developer beta 6 for visionOS 27, alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, tvOS 27, and macOS Golden Gate. The update marks a shift to weekly releases after visionOS 27 Beta 5 debuted following an unusual three-week gap. Only a couple more betas are expected before the public launch next month, putting Apple in its final testing phase before moving toward release candidates and final shipping builds.

The weekly cadence is standard for August, when Apple accelerates beta releases in the lead-up to fall announcements. This pace reflects the company’s confidence in overall stability and its determination to push Vision Pro forward despite the device’s modest market adoption.

Beta 6 prioritizes performance and bug fixes over new features. Apple has significantly reduced the time the headset takes to connect to Wi-Fi when powering up, a meaningful improvement given Vision Pro’s limited battery life and tendency to enter deep sleep when idle. The company claims visionOS 27 delivers wireless performance improvements of up to 3 times faster on supported networks, a substantial jump that should improve everything from app launches to web browsing through Safari.

These gains matter most to developers and professionals using Vision Pro for creative work or enterprise tasks, where connection stability and speed directly affect productivity.

Siri AI and Immersive Environments Lead New Features

visionOS 27 introduces Siri AI with capabilities comparable to ChatGPT and Claude. On Vision Pro, the updated Siri can answer questions about anything the wearer is looking at, controlled by a repositionable Siri orb that can sit anywhere in the user’s virtual space. Unlike iOS, where Siri is voice-first, the spatial version has been built from scratch for three-dimensional interaction.

The update also includes environment and interface enhancements. Panorama photos can now convert into spatial environments, providing quick access to custom backdrops from the user’s photo library. A new Icelandic Thórsmörk environment featuring mountains, valleys, glaciers, and northern lights joins the existing collection. Web Environment support now allows 360-degree environments in Safari, app windows curve for a more cohesive workspace, and Control Center has been reorganized.

Unlike iOS and iPadOS, visionOS has no public beta program, so the general public waits until September to try these features. This developer-only approach reflects Apple’s continued investment in the platform despite Vision Pro’s small installed base.
