Anthropic has rolled out one of the biggest updates to Claude Voice since the feature launched, bringing its most powerful AI models to voice conversations for the first time. Users can now choose between Claude Opus, Claude Sonnet, and Claude Haiku, making voice interactions far more capable than before.
The update goes beyond simply adding new models. Claude Voice now supports connected apps, multilingual conversations, and seamless switching between voice and text, making it a much stronger productivity tool across mobile, desktop, and the web.
Claude Voice Is Now Much More Capable
Until now, Claude Voice only ran on the lightweight Haiku model. While it delivered quick responses, it wasn’t ideal for complex conversations or tasks that required deeper reasoning.
With today’s update, paid users can use both Opus and Sonnet in voice mode, bringing the same advanced intelligence available in Claude’s text chats to spoken conversations. Voice mode automatically uses the fastest version of the last model you selected in text chat, and you can switch between models at any point without starting a new conversation.
Anthropic says the upgrade makes Claude Voice better suited for longer discussions, brainstorming ideas, practicing presentations, refining communication, and tackling more demanding work that previously worked best through text.
The company has also expanded what Claude can do while you’re speaking. Voice mode now works with Claude’s supported connectors, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva, and Notion. This lets you complete tasks such as summarizing emails, updating calendar events, and creating or working with documents using your voice.
Unlike recent voice updates from some competing AI assistants that primarily focused on making conversations sound more natural, Anthropic’s latest release centers on making Claude more useful for getting real work done.
More Languages and Wider Availability
Claude Voice now supports 11 languages, including English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, and both Latin American and European Spanish. Users can also switch languages during conversations, though Claude currently requires you to specify which language you’d like to use.
The upgraded Claude Voice experience is available in beta across Anthropic’s mobile, desktop, and web apps.
Free users can continue using Claude Voice with the Haiku model and one connected app, while paid subscribers gain access to Opus, Sonnet, and all supported connectors. Anthropic notes that voice conversations continue to count toward normal usage limits.
