How to Enable Animated Boot Logo in greenpois0n RC5 [Guide]

greenpois0n RC5 was released a couple of days ago for Mac and earlier today for Windows. Along with an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G and iPad it also lets you install a custom animated boot logo on your iOS device. You can’t just turn on or off an option for the animated boot logo but you need to follow a series of steps to do that. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Jailbreak your iOS device using greenpois0n. Follow our guides for Mac and Windows. You can follow this guide to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4 without updating baseband.
  2. Download ‘animated’ from here.
  3. Connect to your device via SSH ( use Cyberduck for Mac OS X or WinSCP for Windows ). Place the animated file in /usr/bin/
  4. Change the permission of animated to 755.
  5. Reboot your device

That’s it! This will enable the animated boot logo. If you want to disable it, just remove the animated file from /usr/bin.
