How to Create a Custom Pass in the Wallet App on iPhone

iOS 27 lets you turn a physical card into a digital pass in the Wallet app, using Visual Intelligence to scan it or building one manually from a template. It works for event tickets, gift cards, loyalty cards and almost anything else that would otherwise sit in a wallet or a drawer.

Each pass can carry fields like name, location or admission type, and there are 12 background colors plus seven custom backgrounds for categories such as theater, music, sports and movies.

How to Scan a Card With Visual Intelligence

  1. Open the Wallet app and tap the plus button at the top.
  2. Choose Create a Pass.
  3. Tap Continue, then take a photo of the physical card or ticket.
  4. Once Visual Intelligence matches the pass to a template, tap Edit Pass.
  5. Use the palette icon in the bottom-left corner to change the background color or add a photo. Use the icon in the bottom-right corner to add or remove fields.
  6. Tap the checkmark at the top when you’re done.

How to Build a Pass Manually

If there’s no physical card to scan, or Visual Intelligence doesn’t recognize it, choose a template instead, Membership, Event or Custom, and adjust the color and details from there. Scan the barcode or QR code from the original card to finish linking it.

Fields can be added or removed freely, including label, date, membership, contact, coupon code, VIN and insurance, so most physical cards have a digital equivalent available.
