Apple has tested Mac mini configurations with both M5 and M6 chips, creating ambiguity about which will actually ship. The current Mac mini tops out at M4 Pro configuration with up to 48GB of RAM and 8TB of storage. In May 2026, Apple eliminated the base $599 256GB model, pushing the entry point to $799 for 512GB. How the new generation will be priced relative to these current tiers is not clear yet.
Apple will begin manufacturing the Mac mini at its Houston facility later this year, as Tim Cook confirmed during a recent tour with Trump administration officials. The same Advanced Manufacturing Center already produces Apple’s AI servers ahead of schedule. Cook stated:

If Apple clears the Mac mini by August 31, the September 9 event will still feature the foldable iPhone 18 Pro, the full iPhone 18 lineup, new Apple Watches, and likely the debut of AirPods 5. Bloomberg reports that camera-equipped AirPods are not expected until next year, but standard AirPods 5 could debut as early as next month’s event.
Additionally, an OLED iPad mini with the A19 Pro chip is in development and expected to launch sometime in fall 2026, reinforcing Apple’s refresh pace across nearly every major product category within a 10-week window.
