NBA 2K Mobile Season 9 is now available on iPhone and iPad, timed to the start of the 2026-27 NBA season. The headline addition is Tip-Off Frenzy, an event that follows the real NBA schedule so players can play along with live games.
2K announced the season on October 20 for Apple and Android devices. NBA 2K Mobile comes from Cat Daddy Games, a 2K studio, and the new season brings updated rosters with iconic NBA stars and legends.
Tip-Off Frenzy Builds Nightly Events Around Real NBA Games
In Tip-Off Frenzy, the real NBA schedule decides which events run each night. Players play along with live games and earn rewards for matching real-world results. 2K built the event to celebrate the start of the NBA season.
Last season’s Tip-Off event ran for four weeks and revolved around Tip-Off Tickets, Merch and a Hype Track. Real results already played a part, since teams with more wins than losses raised a ticket’s value. NBA 2K Mobile Season 9 goes further by letting the schedule shape the events themselves.
2K says the whole season is synced to the NBA calendar. That comes with new ways to collect stars and legends and build squads with friends.
Online PvP, Crews and Rewind Give Players More Ways to Compete
Season 9 adds three ways to compete with other players around the world:
- Online PvP puts players in real-time basketball matches against others worldwide, with ranks to climb and exclusive rewards for those who compete.
- Crews lets players team up with friends and assemble squads for group competitions, with leaderboard spots and exclusive rewards on the line.
- Rewind lets players relive iconic moments from NBA history by playing through legendary games and collecting vintage player cards.
Live NBA Action Requires iOS 15.5 and 4 GB of RAM
Live NBA action in NBA 2K Mobile requires an Apple device with at least 4 GB of RAM and iOS 15.5 or later. On Android, the requirement is 3 GB of RAM and Android 9. Last season’s announcement listed iOS 12.0 or later for the app.
The game is a free download and is optimized for Apple devices. Sports fans on iPhone and iPad can also play Madden NFL 27 on Apple Arcade, which landed just before the NFL season.
An Internet connection is required, and the game includes optional in-game purchases and paid random items.
