New Vision Pro and HomePod mini colors expected at Apple event

Apple’s September 9 “Awe dropping” event is shaping up to be one of its biggest product launches in years, with the iPhone 17 lineup, new Apple Watch models, AirPods Pro 3, and more expected to debut. Alongside these major releases, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is preparing new color options for both the Vision Pro and the HomePod mini.

The Vision Pro, which currently features a mix of silver and white, may soon be available in Space Black. This would mark the first time Apple expands the headset’s color range since its launch in early 2024. A darker finish would align the Vision Pro with the Space Black colorway seen across other Apple products and provide a sleeker, more understated look.

For the HomePod mini, Apple has tested new shades, including red. The compact smart speaker is currently offered in Blue, Orange, Midnight, White, and Yellow. Adding red would give users another option to better match their personal setups and interiors. Apple has often refreshed smaller accessories with new finishes to keep consumer interest strong, and the HomePod mini has proven to be one of the company’s most successful smart home products.

These new finishes would come alongside expected internal upgrades later this year, such as new wireless chips to support Apple Intelligence and the next generation of Siri. While the Vision Pro continues to face challenges with adoption, a new color option could help spark renewed attention. The HomePod mini, on the other hand, remains a consistent seller, and an expanded color palette would strengthen its appeal heading into the holiday season.

If Apple announces these changes at the September event, they would complement the company’s bigger product updates while keeping two important peripherals fresh and competitive in a crowded market. Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event kicks off on Tuesday, September 9, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
