iOS 9.1 public beta rolls out to users

iOS 9.1 public beta has rolled out to users for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iOS 9.1 developer beta was released just 2 days ago with a lot of new emojis, support for iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, huge performance improvements over iOS 9.1 GM and iOS 8.4.1 and much more.

The new emojis include a middle finger amongst tons of other new ones in each category in the built in emoji keyboard. It is good to see more expressive emojis making their way to smartphones.

The highlight of this release definitely has to be the improved performance. Users who are testing iOS 9.1 beta on their iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are reporting major improvements to general animation speed. The lag that iOS 9 had introduced, specially for iPhone 6 Plus users, is all but gone now. You can read more about it on Reddit.

iOS 9.1 public beta

I have yet to update my iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 9.1 beta but I will be doing that today, after reading about the performance improvements. I will share my impressions too after upgrading.

If you are a developer, you can download the iOS 9.1 beta from Apple Developer Center. Those looking to get access to the public beta can sign up on Apple’s Public Beta Software Program website to register and download the new OS.
