Apple Releases iOS 27 Beta 3 With New Features and Bug Fixes

Apple has released iOS 27 Beta 3 and iPadOS 27 Beta 3 to developers, bringing another round of refinements ahead of the public beta. While this update focuses primarily on stability, it also introduces improvements for Apple Intelligence, Dictation, HealthKit, and several developer frameworks, alongside bug fixes that address issues reported in earlier beta releases.

As expected at this stage of the beta cycle, there are few major user-facing additions. Instead, iOS 27 Beta 3 concentrates on improving performance, fixing bugs, and laying the groundwork for features that will become available later this year. Here’s everything worth knowing about the latest beta.

iOS 27 Beta 3

What’s New in iOS 27 Beta 3

One of the biggest additions in iOS 27 Beta 3 is support for custom Siri voices. Developers can now create personal Siri voices using the new Personal Voice framework, giving users more options for personalized speech generation and accessibility.

Apple has also expanded Live Recognition accessibility features. Apps can now access Live Recognition sessions through new APIs, making it possible to build experiences that respond to real-world sounds and spoken conversations for users who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Another notable improvement is an upgraded on-device Dictation model. Apple says the new model delivers better transcription accuracy and can be enabled through Settings > Keyboard > Dictation > Advanced Dictation Preview.

HealthKit also receives several additions in Beta 3. Apple has added support for heart rate zones and cycling power zones, along with new reproductive health data types for tracking menopausal state and bleeding after menopause. Apps can also request either limited or full access to a user’s Health history, giving users greater control over shared health data.

Developers building Apple Intelligence experiences benefit from Neural Engine improvements that allow large AI models to load faster while reporting memory usage more accurately. Apple has also introduced a new entitlement for apps that perform background AI inference.

Other additions in iOS 27 Beta 3 include:

  • Support for attributed text when creating or updating Notes through App Intents.
  • New AudioAccessoryKit APIs that allow compatible third-party headphones to support fixed Spatial Audio during testing.
  • Support for the PlayStation Access controller across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
  • Localized asset packs that reduce app storage usage by downloading only the resources needed for a user’s preferred language.

Apple has also announced that AirPort Utility is no longer available for new downloads from the App Store. Users who previously downloaded the app can still re-download it, although Apple notes that functionality on iOS 27 is no longer guaranteed.

iOS 27 Beta 3 Bug Fixes

Apple has fixed several issues affecting previous beta releases, including:

  • Devices with deeply discharged batteries no longer become stuck on the red battery icon during startup.
  • Core Bluetooth and Nearby Interaction Channel Sounding APIs now return ranging results correctly.
  • Multiple Foundation Models runtime errors and compiler issues have been resolved.
  • Game Center’s Access Point completion handler now functions as expected.
  • Core AI models no longer fail when Metal API Validation is enabled.
  • StoreKit Testing fixes improve subscription renewals, refunds, pricing, and transaction reporting.
  • SwiftUI and UIKit receive numerous stability and rendering fixes.

Known Issues in iOS 27 Beta 3

Apple continues to list several known issues that developers should be aware of before installing the latest beta.

CarPlay users may encounter playback problems when switching between Spatial Audio and stereo audio, along with slower Siri responses under certain conditions and several interface bugs affecting navigation controls.

Safari’s tab bar may occasionally disappear until the app is restarted, and some Safari Intelligence features may not work immediately while required assets finish downloading.

The Camera app can still render incorrect Portrait mode blur effects, while Home Screen customization may fail to save on newly configured devices. Apple also warns of ongoing issues affecting Siri, Messages, Photos, Mail, Files, Reminders, Writing Tools, and other system components.

Should You Install iOS 27 Beta 3?

If you’re already testing iOS 27, Beta 3 is a worthwhile update thanks to its improved stability, bug fixes, and continued refinements to Apple Intelligence and other system features.

However, this is still a developer beta, and Apple continues to document a lengthy list of known issues. If you rely on your iPhone as your primary device, waiting for the upcoming public beta or a later developer release remains the safer option.
