Apple has released iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 developer beta 4, continuing the summer beta cycle ahead of the public release this fall. The update arrives roughly two weeks after beta 3 and is available for enrolled devices through Settings > General > Software Update.
With the major features of iOS 27 already introduced in earlier betas, beta 4 focuses mainly on stability, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Apple is now refining the experience across Apple Intelligence, Siri AI, system apps, and core features before the final release arrives alongside the next generation of iPhone models.
For anyone new to the beta cycle, iOS 27 introduces several major changes coming this fall:
- Siri AI becomes the centerpiece of Apple’s intelligence overhaul, featuring a redesigned Siri experience powered by Apple Foundation Models. The updated assistant gains broader conversational abilities, access to personal context from apps like Messages and Mail, and awareness of what’s happening on screen.

- Messages and FaceTime updates include continuous sending in Messages and Dual Capture support in FaceTime.
- Safari enhancements include automatic tab organization by topic, grouped bookmarks and Reading List items, and recently closed topics appearing on the Start Page.
- Additional improvements include Custom EQ support for AirPods, easier Apple Pay card switching, new recovery options, and performance improvements across app launches, Photos loading, AirDrop transfers, and network transitions.
Write with Siri is also available systemwide, allowing users to generate text, rewrite content, or receive feedback while typing. Visual Intelligence has been integrated deeper into the Camera experience, giving users more ways to interact with information using Apple Intelligence.
iOS 27 continues to support iPhone 11 and newer models, along with iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later. However, some Apple Intelligence features require newer hardware with the processing capabilities needed for on-device AI tasks. Availability also varies depending on language and region.
Apple released the first iOS 27 public beta on July 13, 2026. Developer beta 4 is expected to become the next public beta release, giving non-developers another opportunity to test iOS 27 before the final launch.
As Apple moves deeper into the beta cycle, future releases will likely focus less on major feature additions and more on improving reliability, battery life, and overall performance. While Siri AI remains the headline feature, everyday improvements across Camera, Photos, AirDrop, and system responsiveness may have a bigger impact for many users.
