Apple has released macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta 2 for compatible Macs, one week after the first public beta became available. The latest update continues Apple’s beta testing ahead of the software’s official release this fall, bringing bug fixes, performance improvements, and additional refinements across the operating system.
For users installing macOS 27 Golden Gate for the first time, the second public beta includes all of the major features Apple announced at WWDC 2026, including Siri AI, the redesigned Spotlight experience, Apple Intelligence enhancements, and the updated Liquid Glass interface.

What’s New in macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta 2
Unlike the first public beta, macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta 2 is primarily focused on improving stability rather than introducing major new features.
Apple has continued refining the operating system with bug fixes, interface polish, and under the hood optimizations designed to make the overall experience smoother and more reliable. As is typical with later beta releases, the focus is on resolving issues reported by developers and early public testers while preparing the software for its final release.
If you’re upgrading from the first public beta, you should notice improved stability and overall performance. Users installing the beta for the first time will also get access to the complete macOS 27 feature set.
macOS 27 Brings Apple Intelligence to More Mac Workflows
The headline feature in macOS 27 is Siri AI, Apple’s next generation assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. Accessible through Spotlight using the familiar Command + Space shortcut, Siri can search the web, understand personal context, analyze what’s on your screen, and complete actions across multiple apps through natural conversations.
Apple has also brought Visual Intelligence to the Mac, allowing Siri to understand on screen content and provide relevant information without requiring users to switch between apps.
The redesigned Liquid Glass interface has also been refined across macOS 27 with updated transparency effects, improved window separation, edge to edge sidebars, and more consistent window styling that helps make multitasking feel cleaner and more organized.
Other new features include Write with Siri for generating and rewriting text, AI-powered photo editing tools in Photos, natural language shortcut creation in Shortcuts, smarter search in Mail and Messages, and system wide performance improvements that help macOS feel faster and more responsive.
How to Install macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta 2
Anyone with a compatible Mac can install macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta 2 by joining Apple’s Beta Software Program.
After enrolling your Mac, open System Settings > General > Software Update, click the i button next to Beta Updates, choose macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta, then return to Software Update to download and install the latest beta.
Because beta software may contain bugs or compatibility issues, Apple recommends installing it on a secondary Mac or creating a recent backup before updating your primary machine.
macOS 27 Compatibility
macOS 27 Golden Gate is available for supported Mac models. However, Apple Intelligence features, including Siri AI, require a compatible Apple Silicon Mac.
Apple is expected to continue releasing additional beta updates over the coming weeks before the stable version of macOS 27 Golden Gate launches this fall.
