Apple Releases iPadOS 27 Public Beta 2 With New Features and Fixes

Apple has released iPadOS 27 Public Beta 2 for compatible iPads, one week after the first public beta became available. The update introduces several new features and quality of life improvements, including Automatic Downloads in the Apple TV app, additional Siri customization, new AirPods controls, Photos enhancements, and a collection of bug fixes and performance improvements ahead of the software’s official release this fall.

If you’re installing iPadOS 27 for the first time, Public Beta 2 also includes all of the major features Apple announced at WWDC 2026, including a redesigned multitasking experience, Siri AI, Apple Intelligence enhancements, and the updated Liquid Glass interface.

What’s New in iPadOS 27 Public Beta 2

The second public beta focuses on refining the overall iPad experience with a handful of practical improvements across several system apps.

The Apple TV app now supports Automatic Downloads, which automatically downloads upcoming episodes from shows in your Continue Watching queue and removes them after you’ve finished watching. The feature makes it easier to keep your favorite content available for offline viewing without managing downloads manually.

Apple has also expanded customization in the dedicated Siri app. You can now choose how many lines of preview text are displayed for previous conversations, with options ranging from no preview to five lines. The update also introduces refreshed splash screens for Siri AI and several built in apps.

For AirPods users, Control Center now includes controls for customizing Adaptive mode directly from the AirPods panel, making it quicker to adjust Adaptive Audio without opening the Settings app.

The Photos app also gains a new Zoom Photos to Fill setting. When enabled, photos that closely match your iPad’s display aspect ratio are slightly enlarged to better fill the screen for a more immersive viewing experience.

Alongside these additions, iPadOS 27 Public Beta 2 includes bug fixes, interface refinements, and performance improvements that continue to polish the software ahead of its public release.

iPadOS 27 Brings a Better Multitasking Experience

If you’re joining the public beta for the first time, this update includes every major feature introduced with iPadOS 27.

The biggest change is Apple’s redesigned multitasking system, which lets you freely resize, move, and organize app windows. Combined with improved window management and smoother animations, iPadOS 27 makes working across multiple apps feel more flexible and productive than previous versions.

Apple has also refined the Liquid Glass design throughout the operating system. The updated interface features improved visuals along with customizable transparency controls, giving users more flexibility over the new design language.

On supported iPad models, Apple Intelligence powers the new Siri AI experience. Siri can understand personal context, recognize what’s on your screen, search the web, and complete actions across apps using natural language conversations through its dedicated interface.

Several built in apps also receive Apple Intelligence enhancements. Visual Intelligence is integrated into the Camera app for identifying objects and gathering contextual information, while Write with Siri can generate text, rewrite content, and help refine your writing. Safari can automatically organize tabs and even create Shortcuts and Safari extensions using natural language.

Other iPadOS 27 features include AI powered photo editing tools in Photos, Custom EQ for supported AirPods, Home app support for compatible 4K security cameras, expanded child safety controls, and system wide performance improvements.

How to Install iPadOS 27 Public Beta 2

Anyone with a compatible iPad can install iPadOS 27 Public Beta 2 by joining Apple’s Beta Software Program.

After enrolling your Apple Account, open Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, select iPadOS 27 Public Beta, then return to Software Update to download and install the latest beta.

Because beta software may contain bugs or compatibility issues, Apple recommends installing it on a secondary device or creating a recent backup before updating your primary iPad.

iPadOS 27 Compatibility

iPadOS 27 is compatible with the same iPad models that support iPadOS 26. However, Apple Intelligence features, including Siri AI, require a compatible iPad powered by Apple silicon.

Apple is expected to continue releasing additional beta updates throughout the summer before the final version of iPadOS 27 launches this fall.
