Apple Releases iOS 27 Public Beta 2 for iPhone

Apple has released iOS 27 Public Beta 2 for compatible iPhones, one week after making the first public beta available. Alongside bug fixes and stability improvements, the latest beta introduces several small but useful additions across iOS, including new options for the Apple TV app, Siri, AirPods, and Photos.

If you’re installing iOS 27 for the first time, Public Beta 2 also includes all of the major features announced at WWDC 2026, such as Siri AI, the refined Liquid Glass interface, Apple Intelligence enhancements, and improvements across many built in apps.

What’s New in iOS 27 Public Beta 2

iOS 27 Public Beta 2 focuses on refining the experience introduced in the first public beta while adding a handful of useful quality of life improvements across the system.

The Apple TV app now includes a new Automatic Downloads option. When enabled, the app automatically downloads the next available episodes of shows in your Continue Watching queue and removes them after you’ve finished watching, making it easier to keep your favorite content available offline.

Apple has also expanded customization in the dedicated Siri app. Users can now choose how many lines of preview text are displayed for previous conversations, with options ranging from no preview up to five lines. The update also introduces refreshed splash screens for Siri AI and several other built in apps.

For AirPods users, Control Center now includes controls for Adaptive mode, allowing you to fine tune Adaptive Audio directly from Control Center instead of opening the Settings app.

The Photos app gains a new Zoom Photos to Fill option in Settings. When enabled, photos that nearly match your iPhone’s display aspect ratio are slightly enlarged to better fill the screen for a more immersive viewing experience.

Alongside these additions, Apple has included additional bug fixes, performance improvements, and stability refinements throughout iOS 27 as it continues preparing the software for its public release later this year.

Everything Included in iOS 27

If you’re new to the iOS 27 beta, Public Beta 2 includes all of the major features Apple introduced with the operating system.

The biggest addition is Siri AI, Apple’s next generation assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. Siri AI can understand personal context, search the web, recognize what’s on your screen, complete actions across apps, and carry on natural conversations through its dedicated interface. Siri AI is available on Apple Intelligence compatible iPhones.

Apple has also continued refining the Liquid Glass design language, including a transparency slider that lets users adjust the intensity of the new visual effects throughout the system.

Several Apple apps also benefit from Apple Intelligence. Visual Intelligence is now integrated into the Camera app, allowing users to identify objects, look up nutritional information for meals, split restaurant bills, and more. Write with Siri can generate text, rewrite content, and help improve your writing across supported apps.

Other notable iOS 27 features include AI-powered photo editing tools in Photos, automatic tab organization in Safari, the ability to create Shortcuts and Safari extensions using natural language, Custom EQ for supported AirPods, 4K camera support in the Home app, expanded child safety controls, and numerous system wide performance improvements.

How to Install iOS 27 Public Beta 2

Anyone with a compatible iPhone can install iOS 27 Public Beta 2 by joining Apple’s Beta Software Program.

Once enrolled, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, select iOS 27 Public Beta, then return to Software Update to download and install the latest beta.

Because beta software may contain bugs, reduced battery life, and app compatibility issues, Apple recommends installing it on a secondary device or creating a recent backup before updating your primary iPhone.

iOS 27 Compatibility

iOS 27 is compatible with the same iPhone models that support iOS 26, including the iPhone 11 and newer, as well as the iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later.

However, Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features require a compatible iPhone, starting with the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models.

Apple is expected to continue releasing additional beta updates throughout the summer before the stable version of iOS 27 launches this fall.
