Grok Bot can now use the apps on your phone, starting with Calendar, Reminders and Contacts. The update is rolling out on iOS and Android, and it lets the bot work with your day directly instead of staying inside its own cloud computer.
Grok Bot announced the change on X on October 23. It says the bot can now use Calendar, Reminders, Contacts and more apps on your phone, and that you need to update to the latest version of the Grok Bot mobile app to get it.
Grok Bot asks for permission one phone app at a time
The image attached to the announcement shows the permission screen. Each app has its own Allow button and a one-line description of what the bot will do with it:
- Messages to read and send messages
- Location to find places near you
- Calendar to see your day and add events
- Home to control lights, locks and more
- Reminders to set and check reminders
- Contacts to find and add contacts
Going by that screen, access is granted app by app. You could let the bot see your calendar and reminders without handing it your messages or your home controls.
The announcement names Calendar, Reminders and Contacts and says more apps are included, and the permission screen shows Messages, Location and Home alongside them.
Grok Bot is becoming a phone assistant as well as a desktop agent
Grok Bot launched in August with AI agents that each work on their own cloud computer. That setup suits work done in a browser or a desktop app. Calendar, Reminders and Contacts live on the phone, so a bot needs mobile access to read and update them.
Home and Location extend that further, since lights, locks and nearby places are also things only the phone can reach. Messages is the most sensitive item on the list, because it covers both reading and sending.
The mobile app has been part of the product for a while. It shipped on iOS alongside desktop, then reached Android in early September, where bots keep running after the phone locks and check in only when they need your approval.
You can message bots, follow several of them in parallel and approve their work from the phone. Grok Bot also expanded to iPad that month, and is getting Claude Opus 5.5 as a backend model.
Grok Bot is still in beta and is included with eligible Cursor and SuperGrok plans. When you see the new phone access depends on your plan and on how quickly the update reaches your account.
