Amazon rolls new Prime Video app on Apple TV and other compatible living room devices

Amazon has rolled out a new Prime Video app on Apple TV, and other living room devices this week. The redesigned app delivers a refreshed experience making it easier for users to find the content they love and to discover new titles.

Prime Video app offers a diverse library of movies, TV shows, and sports including Amazon originals like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Boys, Jack Ryan, and others. It supports videos download videos feature to watch offline, Picture-in-Picture (PiP), rent or buy new releases, behind the scenes of movies and TV Shows, and much more for a monthly plan.

Navigation menu and sub-navigation menu

In the new Prime Video app on Apple TV, the new navigation menu has been relocated to the side of the screen and includes six primary pages:  Home, Store, Find, Live TV, Free with Ads, and My Stuff.

The “My Subscriptions” on the Home page contains all the videos in the user membership plans and the refreshed Find page enables users to search for specific titles or discover different genres and collections.

The app features a sub-navigation menu to conveniently browse by the content or offer type like  “Movies,” “TV shows” and “Sports” on Home, and “Channels” or “Rent or Buy” on Store.  Sports programs can be easily discovered through the new “Sports” sub-navigation menu.

The redesigned “users friendly” navigation menu is simplified to make content more content accessible so users can browse the steamer’s selection of movies, TV shows, sports, and premium channels to find a title to watch easily and quickly.

Live TV page

Designed as a hub for streaming stations, the new Live TV page will feature live sports and events. An easy to use guide includes live content for users to watch events that are currently on air and when will the new ones will begin.

Carousels

The new carousels feature videos with rich more cinematic imagery and make it easier to find something (new or old) to watch through the app’s “Top 10 Chart”  and “Super Carousel”.

Content Markers

New content markers or visual cues are added to identify which titles are included in a customer’s membership and which are available for purchase. The cues “indicate which videos are included for you (marked with a blue checkmark icon) and which are available to rent, buy, or subscribe to (marked with a shopping bag icon).”

The new simplified user interface, immersive imagery, and visual cues are all designed to elevate users’ streaming experience on the new Prime Video app available on compatible Amazon devices, Blu-Ray players, game consoles, set-top boxes, smart TVs, and on Android. As per the announcement, the Prime Video mobile app on iOS, iPadOS, and the web will be updated in the summer of this year.
