Apple’s upcoming health features: AI-powered coaching service, mood tracker and more

Bloomberg reports that Apple is working on new health and wellness features for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. The tech company plans to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) powered health coaching service, an iPad version of the Health app, and a mood or emotions tracker.

Apple

The Cupertino tech giant already offers several health and fitness features mostly centered around iPhone and Apple Watch like the Health app, activity monitoring, Fall detection, ECG app, sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, and others.

In 2020, the company launched a paid home-based fitness service designed around Apple Watch called Fitness+ with an expanding library of up to 40 minutes workout sessions from a wide range of genres like HITT, Yoga, cycling, and others. In 2021, Fitness+ was expanded to iOS to make it available to a large pool of Apple users.

Now it appears that the tech giant is aiming for a deeper push into the health industry to boost the popularity of its devices.

Health app in iPadOS 17

The iPad version of the Health app is expected to launch this year in iOS 17. It will allow users to view their health records in large format. Apple hopes that the app might increase Health’s app popularity in Healthcare settings.

The tech giant has planned to upgrade the Health app in iOS 17 with new tools to manage mood or emotions tracking and vision.

  • The emotion tracker will allow users to record their mood, answer questions about their day and compare results. In the future, Apple plans to introduce iOS algorithms to determine users’ mood through their speech and other data.

The updated Health app for iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 might be unveiled at the WWDC 2023 and launched later this year.
